Congratulations To Our 2020 Benchmark Provider Spotlight of the Quarter!
Our BH Provider Spotlight of the Quarter is Dr. Garo Karakashian! Dr. Garo Karakashian is from Varna, Bulgaria, where he graduated in the top percentile of his class at Varna Medical University. He then continued his medical career in the United States with his residency in New York Presbyterian Hospital and Loma Linda University Medical Center. Currently, he practices as an internal medicine doctor in Adventist Health Glendale (AHGL) and at his clinic in Glendale, CA. He is also director of Montrose Springs Skilled Nursing and Wellness Center, Leisure Glen Post-Acute Care Center, and Dedicated Hospice.Dr. Karakashian has been with Benchmark ever since the beginning of the program in 2014. His passion for helping people led him to medicine: "I love the challenge of being in the hospital setting because patients have very sick diagnoses that need to be determined." His favorite aspect of his work is helping people get healthier and happier, he said.
Outside of work, he enjoys biking, hiking, lifting weights and long walks. He also collects pens and has a love for cars. He says he wakes up every day knowing that he will make a positive difference in the health of others, a main motivation for his work. "Each patient is special and has different medical needs during the healing and recovery process, and I enjoy involving the patient and family members during each step of care."
